Do you think the people of Raleigh, North Carolina, turned Clay Aiken gay?
– Liz Lemon, 30 Rock.
HOLLAAAAAA!! Also, she didn’t call us Raleigh-Durham! Score!

Today I dropped a half-full glass jar of salsa on my toe. Blood went everywhere. It hurts like hell. That was pretty much how my day went.
Monday Josh and I continued the hunt for a new place to live. We met with one semi-douchey realtor who told us we were looking too early and basically was like you can look around if you like but you’re wasting my time. Well, it smelled like old lady and had carpet in the bathroom anyways, so eff you realtor.
Then we drove to look at a house for rent that I had seen online. Anddd I...

The Long Run
This book was only sixty pages, but it was about thirty too long. I did not like it. At all. I thought it would be more about running, you know, since the title and everything. Wrong. The first 45 pages were various “look how fucked up I was” stories a la James Frey’s “A Million Little Pieces”, but not as good. Then all of a sudden it was—-“One day I...
Look at my pretty new shoes
They are Asics GT-2170’s and they have bright purple shoelaces because I like a bit of whimsy in my workout. Also, today I learned that I am an overpronator. Which means oh….that’s why the insides of my feet have been hurting. Because I roll them in when I run. These shoes will take care of that.

Is Everybody Hanging Out Without Me?
This book was exactly what I expected it to be. Which was a good thing. It was funny and made me laugh at certain points and then read what I was laughing about out loud to Joshua, who I’m sure enjoyed that very much. Defiintely worth reading, not sure about the $12.99 amazon price, because it’s one of those “read in one sitting” books. Luckily, I’m still using all...

Diet Pepsi
Is the worst diet soda. I hate when I ask for diet coke and the waiter brings me Diet Pepsi. IT IS NOT THE SAME. Diet Coke is heaven in my mouth. Diet Pepsi makes me want to gag. If you don’t have Diet Coke, just say “is Diet Pepsi ok?” And I’ll say “no, I’ll just have water, thanks” Don’t bring it to me and assume there is no difference. There is a...

So I downloaded the much talked about Couch to 5k app. I loved it. Really. Because if an automated voice tells me to run, well damn, I’m going to run. So I did, and I feel great. I think maybe week one is going to be a little redundant for me because it’s only running in (really) short spurts, and I’m used to running longer, but I put in more distance today than I normally do and...

Best Friends Forever
This book was just eh. I mean I wasn’t expecting literary greatness or anything, considering it’s called Best Friends Forever…but I expected more from Jennifer Weiner. I really enjoyed all her other books, particularly Good In Bed, which is probably one of my favorite books.
This book jumped from narrator to narrator and moved back and forth in time, which got really annoying....

Fifth Avenue, 5AM
So this is the first book I read of the new year. I read a review of it on Tumblr (duh) and asked Josh for it for Christmas. It was really good. And it made me want to watch Breakfast at Tiffany’s again, now paying attention to all the painstaking details that went into making the movie. It was interesting to read how this movie presented the dawn of a new era in movies (it’s ok to...

2012
I’m feeling very new years list-y, even though it’s only December 29th. I made a list of goals for myself to try to accomplish (no pressure, dude) in 2012. Not necessarily all resolutions, just some things I want to try or work on. Some of them I’m not going to put in the tumblr world, but some I am. A few include:
Read 25 books this year ( I have no idea if that’s way...

Well, I guess it wouldn’t be my family without a little emotional scaring for the holidays
Sultan of Sentiment: Your Presence is Gift Enough →

Listen, I really don’t like Christmas presents. I think I reached this conclusion one year when I received not one, BUT TWO, hot pink, shearling-lined vests from various family members. Oh, and both of the vests were too small. Anyway, I like making things for people and I like getting gifts…
I just wanted to have this story on my blog. That is all.

Dexter Finale
So the season finale….not sure how I feel about this whole incest thing. I mean, what? Are all Deb’s feelings gone after she Dexter stab Travis? I don’t see how this is going to work out. Like, it can’t. Dexter’s not going to be like oh yeah I love you too, right?
It's not Christmas unless these movies have been...
Elf
Home Alone
How the Grinch Stole Christmas (NOT the creepy Jim Carrey version)
Love Actually
A Christmas Story (at least twice Christmas morning on TBS)
Santa’s Slay
Christmas Vacation
So far we’ve watched Santa’s Slay, Christmas Vacation & Love Actually. Well on our way to Christmas! Also important discovery…
Rick from The Walking Dead is the sign...
Instead of finishing up my Christmas shopping and cleaning like I had planned to do, I took the dog on a walk and read a book. That is literally all I’ve done today. It’s just when Oscar curls up on the couch he just looks so snuggly, I have to join him. Plus Raleigh traffic sucks. And it’s cold outside.
Friday
Yesterday I took the day off work (Josh already had the day off) and we just got to hang out and do whatever we wanted, which almost never happens since Josh has to work pretty much every weekend. The day included:
sleeping until 11
enjoying a big homemade breakfast
not rushing to get ready
Christmas shopping
finally going to see The Muppets movie, which I highly enjoyed. Favorite celebrity...
I had my doubts when Joshua called me at work to ask if the crockpot had to be on the stove to work…but he assembled the pot roast last night and it was delicious. And we got our Christmas tree. We definitely need some more ornaments, but it’s coming along!

True Life
I just had to pry someone’s used chewing gum out of my dog’s mouth so he would stop choking on it.

The first day back at the gym isn’t the hardest. I’m all like “yeah, I got this. Look at me run.” However, the second day, SUCKS. But I went. Do I feel better? Not really. But at least I did it.
On another note, I don’t think I run right. Is there a right way to run? Homegirl on the treadmill next to me looked so graceful. I’m all hunched over shuffling...

Spending my night with John Cusack. I really don’t know why I find him so adorable*. Anyways, I don’t know why,but High Fidelity is always my go to movie when I’m by myself. I find it comforting for some reason.
Well I guess I’m not totally by myself, Oscar is watching it too. It’s hard to tell in this picture, but he really did look like he was paying attention.

Today I have:
Been Grocery Shopping
Put up my summer clothes/gotten out my winter clothes
Cleaned my half of the closet (not touching the other half…)
Made Spinach Lasagna
Made Nutella Cookies
Taken the dog on a walk
On an unrelated note, I’m not superstitious but…
Really? 666? This does not look good for the week ahead
I have seen a lot of gross things on Dexter. Beheadings, dismemberment, etc. However I was thoroughly grossed out by last night’s episode. A dead body with live baby snakes in it? Sick sick sickkk. Grossness aside, it was nice to finally watch it live and not have to wait a year for Netflix.
Also, I made brownies with mini reeses inside. Delightful.

tumblr is the worst kind of good peer pressure.
meghanunc:
A) I NEVER used to paint my nails, now I paint my nails at least once a week
B) I am absolutely not a watch person. This week I have googled MK watches 2 times. Pretty sure I’m going to ask for one for Christmas.
C) While I enjoy cooking I never used to subscribe to food blogs. Now I obsessively follow 5+ food blogs so I can make scrumptious food and post my food porn on tumblr

I just ate wayyyy too much breakfast food for dinner. Half of it was covered in nutella. It’s like I’m trying to make up for 22 years of not having nutella in my life. But, I figured I deserved it after giving up my own nail appointment to take Oscar to get his nails done instead.

Online shopping seems like such a good use of this nasty Saturday.
So it’s mid-August…and I’m not getting ready to start classes. This is a very odd feeling. I mean, for the past seventeen years, every August I’ve been in school…and now it’s just…done.
Thinking about fall makes me miss Greensboro. Note I didn’t actually go to school in Greensboro, but that is beside the point. Raleigh just isn’t the same. I...
